November 2015 Update

Trust in Sport Formation

Trust in Sport has been created as a charitable organisation operating on a not for profit basis and is currently pending charity incorporation (charity constitution available upon reasonable request).
The senior trustee team has now been appointed and provides representation from a combination of business and sporting professionals.

Senior Trustee Team

  • Gaynor Read - Business Support

  • Mike Younger - Site Development

  • Donna Wicks - Operational Services

  • Simon Edwards - Sports Development

  • Gavin Gardner - Partnership Development

Advisory Board

Trust in Sport relies heavily on the input and feedback from supportive community representatives to help direct which projects and activities to focus our efforts. Moving forward we are keen to see the community input increase even further with annual open public meeting to be held early 2016. The purpose of these meetings will be to review current service, receive honest feedback and listen to new project ideas for the future.

Website and media

As part of the promise laid out in Trust in Sports constitution we aim to publish and provide updates on developments as they happen allowing the community to maintain constant input during this early development stage. These updates will be published both on our; Website (www.trustinsport.com) and through our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TrustinSport).

New Partners

Trust in Sport maintains an open invitation to any new partners that would like to work alongside us, either with the Marina Centre development or other regional projects.
The trustees aim to use this open feedback as a starting point for selecting new projects throughout the scheme, providing a more accurate account of services and demand.

Partnership Interest

Following initial conversations with local and national organisations we have been pleased with the amount of support received. Receiving this expertise from all areas and professional industries has allowed us to continue with a strong business case, with practical well thought out solutions to development and site issues.
Over the next three months we have representatives from different National Governing sporting bodies visiting the site in relation to how we can best assist each other with the proposed site and sport development and we are looking forward to opportunities that this will bring.

Marina Centre Site Development

For the ongoing development of the site Trust in Sport would need to be presented with a viable long term commitment by Great Yarmouth Borough Council that matches Trust in Sports initial project term of 15 years.
The building requires modernising and would require a land lord one off investment of £30,000 - £40,000. This could be incorporated within a usage or Commercial rental agreement where the building maintenance and contractual responsibilities are clearly defined.

Mike Younger - Commercial Director at Aldreds Chartered Surveyor’s is currently acting as part of Trust in Sports development team. With 43 years of commercial property experience, thirty of which have been in Norfolk & Suffolk, Mike is well placed to provide property solutions during the development of this project. Mikes specialty is regeneration of sports facilities and the tourism sector and is a key figure in this projects development.

Five Year Model

Working to a slower more conservative five year model, we have provided indications on when extra funding would be received, its source and the period over which it would be spent. The reasoning behind this new model is to allow the development of volunteer roles without over burdening enthusiastic individuals with time and financial pressures.

As a community led development the order of proposed projects will depend on committed support from the community and its relevance within the County Sports Development Plan.
Supporters of sport development within Norfolk, we are currently in early development talks to assess how we can best support the county and the community in maximising existing resources to provide value for money and inspirational projects.
